SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras met separately on Friday with Cuban President Raul Castro, Venezuelan Vice President Nicolas Maduro and former Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in Caracas, Venezuela.
Tsipras spoke to them ahead of the funeral of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.
Unconfirmed reports claimed Castro told Tsipras, “So, you are the Greek we are all expecting to become prime minister.”
Tsipras, who is the vice president of the European Left Party, also met with Chavez’s mother and one of his daughters.
