Police seize more than 9 mln contraband smokes in Patra

Officers of the the Financial Crimes Squad (SDOE) confiscated more than 9 million cigarettes at the western port of Patra on Thursday following a raid on containers that are believed to have been smuggled into the country from Indonesia.

According to authorities, the contraband goods cost the Greek state an estimated 1.6 million euros in lost customs tariffs and taxes.
