Trial of baker who brutally beat migrant worker begins
A 30-year-old Egyptian immigrant who was found tied to a tree on the island of Salamina after suffering a severe beating by his employer, a 56-year-old baker, is to recount his ordeal in court on Friday.
The baker, who responded on Thursday to charges of grievous bodily harm, said he reacted angrily after finding 12,000 euros of his money in the migrant’s possession. According to the victim, the baker’s son and two other men watched as the 56-year-old hit him. The migrant is likely to be deported.
