PASOK leader Evangelos Venizelos issued an invitation on Wednesday to all the deputies who have been pushed out of the party recently to return to the fold as the Socialists prepare for a national congress next month.
Speaking at a meeting of the congress’s organizational committee, Venizelos suggested that he would be willing to welcome back the eight lawmakers who were ousted from PASOK’s parliamentary group after failing to vote for structural reforms and austerity measures.
“This is a good opportunity to make a new call for unity and a rallying of forces, with no exclusions or prerequisites,” said Venizelos, whose party has just 25 lawmakers.
