A 62-year-old man was arrested on Sunday in the northern port city of Thessaloniki on charges of illegal weapons possession.

According to initial police reports, police officers discovered a rifle, three handguns and more than 1,000 cartridges in an uninsured vehicle belonging to the suspect.

A subsequent search of the suspect’s principal residence in Thessaloniki and two holiday houses on the Halkidiki peninsula led to the discovery of eight wireless radio transmitters, a wooden bow with 28 arrows, three knives, two small swords, a Samurai sword, 190 cartridges and two pairs of handcuffs, among other items.
