Report points to 324 prison leave violations in the last three years
According to a report submitted to Parliament by Justice Minister Antonis Roupakiotis, 324 prison leaves were violated by inmates over the last three years. About 12,000 permissions to leave prison were granted to prisoners during the same period.
The report was submitted following a parliamentary question by New Democracy MP Andreas Psycharis.
Meanwhile, Roupakiotis reiterated the ministry’s intention to examine the possiblity of locating inmates on leave through GPS tracking devices during their time away from correctional facilities.
