Ousted PASOK MP slams coalition after voting for SYRIZA's censure motion

Theodora Tzakri, the PASOK MP who voted against the government in Sunday’s censure motion vote, has attacked the coalition for what she calls a “democratic deficit”.

Tzakri was the only one of the two-party alliance’s deputies to support SYRIZA’s call for a show of no confidence in the government. Another, Nikitas Kaklamanis, did not attend the ballot.

“My fellow citizens put their trust in me so I would confront the serious problems, not to rubber stamp e-mails from our lenders,” said Tzakri in a statement.

“This government is characterized by a surfeit of social harshness, incapability, a democratic deficit and lack of plan to exit the crisis.”

PASOK leader Evangelos Venizelos ousted Tzakri from the party’s parliamentary group immediately after the vote. PASOK now has 27 MPs, six fewer than when the government was formed in June 2012, and the coalition has 154, 10 fewer than last year.
