Prosecutors and judges lined up to combat graft

Plans to create a team of judges and prosecutors supported by strong technical expertise to investigate allegations of political corruption have been the subject of recent discussions between Supreme Court prosecutor Yiannis Tentes and top government officials.

Kathimerini understands the coalition is set to approve the creation of corruption-busting unit to investigate instances of public money being wasted or embezzled as well as cases of parties, politicians or civil servants being bribed.

Among the initiatives being considered is the creation of a new position for a prosecutor who will be exclusively responsible for investigating graft allegations.
