Greek anti-austerity protesters on Tuesday gathered outside the Evelpidon court complex in Athens in support of the 35 unionists arrested during a protest at the labor ministry last month.
The unionists, all members of the Communist Party-affiliated PAME, were scheduled to face trial on Tuesday.
The PAME unionists were arrested on January 30 after they had forced their way into the ministry and occupied Labour Minister Yannis Vroutsis's office for about two hours. They said they were angered by comments made by Vroutsis when he said Greece's social security system was founded on clientilism.
Meanwhile, judges were staging a work stoppage until 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
