One of 4 Turkish suspects arrested in Athens said to be DHKP-C leader

One of four suspected members of the Turkish extreme-leftist terrorist organization Revolutionary Peoples Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C), who are to face an Athens magistrate on Friday, is the partys leader, Turkish media reported on Wednesday.

According to Hurriyet daily, Huseyin Fevzi Tekin is one of the four suspects detained in Greece and is considered the leader of DHKP-C.

The suspects, all Turkish Kurds aged 49, 41, 33 and 25, were arrested on Monday after Greek anti-terrorist officers raided an apartment in the central Athens neighborhood of Gyzi and seized a large cache of weapons and explosives.

The four, who had claimed to be Syrian and apparently had not raised the suspicions of neighbors, face charges of belonging to a terrorist organization and weapons possession.

One of them is wanted for the murder of a Turkish industrialist.
