Stamati sends notice to neighbor over comments made on TV

Viki Stamati, the wife of ex-Defense Minister Akis Tsochatzopoulos, has sent an out-of-court notice to the couple’s neighbor after he appeared on TV to complain about the problems he faced when they lived in the neighboring apartment on Dionysiou Areopagitou Street in central Athens.

Last week a court ordered that the property be seized by the state as part of the couple’s sentence for failing to fully declare their assets over the past few years.

Tsochatzopoulos also received an eight-year jail sentence as part of the ruling.

He and Stamati are among 19 suspects who are to stand trial in connection with alleged bribe-taking and money-laundering while Tsochatzopoulos was in office.

Stamati accused her neighbor, Michalis Haritos, of trying to ensure that the property is repossessed so he can “buy it at minimal cost at auction.”
