SYRIZA secures 'New Greece' domain amid rumors of New Democracy renaming

SYRIZA has stolen a march on New Democracy by registering the domain name for Nea Ellada (New Greece), amid suggestions that the conservative party was considering adopting this moniker.

Prime Minister Antonis Samaras has made frequent references over the past few months to the need to create a “new Greece.” It has been rumored that his aides have advised the creation of a new party with this name to replace New Democracy.

However, SYRIZA has secured the domain name www.neaellada.gr and is using it to promote its message. Leftist leader Alexis Tsipras has also begun making reference to a “new Greece”.

The conservatives accused SYRIZA of “stealing New Democracy’s political message.”
