Greece, Kuwait mark 50 years of friendship with deals

Greece and Kuwait marked 50 years of diplomatic relations on Thursday by signing two agreements, one regarding investments and the other tourism.

The deals were signed by Greek Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos and his Kuwaiti counterpart Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, who also met President Karolos Papoulias and Prime Minister Antonis Samaras.

The two foreign ministers also inaugurated the Kuwaiti Embassy’s new offices in Athens.

“The business environment is improving and the country is becoming an attractive destination for investments and cooperation in privatizations,” said Venizelos.

Al-Sabah said there was “great potential” for economic cooperation between the two countries.

Venizelos also condemned the seizure of the Turkish consul general in Mosul and called for the rapid and safe release of all the hostages.
