Golden Dawn chief’s wife to see judges next week

The two magistrates investigating Golden Dawn on Thursday gave Eleni Zaroulia, a party MP and the wife of its leader Nikos Michaloliakos, five more days before she has to provide a deposition.

Zaroulia was due to face Ioanna Klapa and Maria Dimitropoulou on Thursday but her lawyer was not able to attend so she was allowed to put off her deposition until Tuesday.

Arriving at the courthouse, Zaroulia referred to the Golden Dawn MPs already in pretrial custody as “political prisoners.”

Party spokesman Ilias Kasidiaris also accused Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and Justice Minister Haralambos Athanasiou of creating a “trial-fixing ring.”

Like other Golden Dawn MPs, Zaroulia is accused of being part of a criminal organization, a felony.

Another lawmaker from the neo-Nazi party, Michalis Arvanitis, is due to face the magistrates on Friday.

Chrysovalantis Alexopoulos, who quit the party earlier this year, is scheduled to provide his deposition on Monday.
