Municipalities react to list of non-Greek students at nursery schools
Municipal authorities in Thessaloniki and Veria, northern Greece, said on Friday that they are refusing to provide data on the number of non-Greek children that attend nursery schools in the areas.
“We have no intention of responding to the circular sent by the [Interior] Ministry,” said Thessaloniki Deputy Mayor Kalypso Goula in reference to the department’s efforts to collect data on the identity of young pupils following a question on the subject in Parliament by far-right Golden Dawn.
“It is unacceptable, it is utterly condemnable and nobody should respond to such a questionnaire,” said Veria Mayor Haroula Oulsoutzoglou.
