After protest, Greek minister says hospital visits will go on, but in secret

Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis has vowed to pay a surprise visit to at least one state hospital per week despite being jeered yesterday when he inspected Aghia Olga Hospital in Athens.

Georgiadis played the hostile reception down as a minor incident by a minority, which does not represent most Greeks.

When I go somewhere unannounced so those on the far left do not have a chance to gather, I never have any problems, he insisted.

When others find out I am going, they want to make a show of it.

Georgiadis said he wants to keep carrying out the visits so he can speak to patients and find out from them what problems they are facing.
