Stormy weather expected in northwest, central Greece

The Hellenic National Meteorological Service (www.hnms.gr) on Wednesday issued a warning of a shift in warm weather starting in the northwest of the country with rain, thunderstorms as well as snow in mountainous areas.

Heavy showers, storms and strong winds were expected in the northern Ionian Sea, Epirus and Western Macedonia on Wednesday, before spreading to western and northern Greece, followed by Thessaly and other parts of central Greece.

Snow was expected on Wednesday afternoon on mountainous areas in Epirus, Macedonia and parts of central Greece.

Bad weather was expected to continue on Thursday with heavy rains and thunderstorms in western and central parts of the country.
