Deputy Education Minister Simeon Kedikoglou has attributed the fact that he voted against lifting the immunity of Golden Dawn MP Giorgos Germenis to “human error.”
The vote took place in July, when a total of 208 deputies voted for Germenis’s immunity to be lifted after he allegedly pulled out a gun during an argument with Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis.
During the ballot, two MPs cast “no” votes, with one blank vote and the rest abstaining.
It only emerged on Tuesday that Kedikoglou was one of the two lawmakers who voted against the motion.
The deputy minister said he made a mistake when filling in the ballot paper.
He emphasized that he opposed “every action and political choice of the neo-Nazi creation that is Golden Dawn.”
