As many as 10 parties could enter parliament, poll finds

As many as 10 political parties could cross the minimum 3 percent threshold to enter parliament in the May 6 general elections, up from just five currently, a new poll has shown.

The survey, conducted by Marc for Alpha TV and presented late Tuesday, gave conservative New Democracy 22.3 percent of the vote (110 seats). PASOK came second with 17.8 percent of the vote (48 seats).

In third place was Independent Greeks, the nationalist anti-bailout party formed by ND rebel Panos Kammenos, with 9.9 percent. Coalition of the Radical Left ( SYRIZA) and the Communist Party (KKE) also got more than 9 percent. All three parties would get 26 seats.

The poll found that Democratic Left, Golden Dawn, LAOS, the Ecogreens and the Democratic Alliance would all garner enough votes to enter parliament.

Meanwhile, a VPRC poll to be published in Thursday's Epikaira magazine indicates that eight parties will gain seats in the House, giving ND and PASOK a combined 36.5 percent of the vote.
