All three defendants in the trial relating to the April 2013 murder of a young woman in Nea Makri, eastern Attica, were found guilty as charged by an Athens court on Thursday.

Faye Blacha was 23 when she suffered fatal injuries during a beating over a year ago at the hands of her boyfriend, Vangelis Stefanakis, aged 26. He was handed a life sentence.

The second defendant was the victims sister, Marialena Blacha, who admitted to having an affair with Stefanakis at the time of the killing and was sentenced to five years for perjury and harboring a criminal.

The third defendant, facing one year behind bars, is Vick Sarel, a friend of Stefanakis, charged with harboring a criminal.
