The Israeli navy on Saturday stopped an international activist boat carrying humanitarian aid with the aim of breaking the country’s blockade of Gaza.
Five Greeks, including two deputies of the left-wing SYRIZA party, were among the crew of 30 activists when Israeli marines took over the SV Estelle, redirecting it to Israel’s southern port of Ashdod.
There were no reports of injuries.
In a statement on Saturday, SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras expressed his solidarity with the crew.
