Five arrested following murder of father and son in Thessaloniki

Five people were arrested on Tuesday following the murder of a father, aged 64, and his 32-year-old son in Thessaloniki's Neapoli district on Monday afternoon, the state-run Athens-Macedonia News Agency (AMNA) has reported.

According to police reports cited by the AMNA, the double murder occurred when the victims and another four men - two aged 24, one aged 28 and one 33-year-old - clashed with the 61-year-old shooter at his home in Neapoli in what investigators believe to have been a settling of personal differences. Police said the six men went to the 61-year-old's home and attacked him and his family, hitting his wife and young son. The AMNA said that a search of the victims' car revealed that they had wooden clubs in the trunk.

The 61-year-old allegedly responded by shooting at his assailants with a hunting rifle, killing the 64-year-old father and his son.

The 61-year-old has been arrested along with the four men who accompanied the victims to his home.
