Financial prosecutors orders arrest of current and former AEK presidents
Financial prosecutors Grigoris Peponis and Sypros Mouzakitis on Thursday ordered the arrest of all AEK soccer club presidents since 2004 in connection to the team’s debts to the state.
The Athens club owes just over 170 million euros in unpaid taxes and the first to be arrested is the current chairman, Andreas Dimitrelos, aged 54.
Other arrests are due to follow, including that of former chairman and AEK striker Demis Nikolaidis.
