Following a 24-hour strike on the Athens metro and work stoppages on other modes of public transport on Tuesday, commuters in Attica were set to face more hurdles after public transport unionists called for a fresh 24-hour strike on Thursday, January 31.

The January 31 strike was expected to halt services on the Athens metro, the Piraeus-Kifissia electric railway (ISAP), the tram as well as the suburban railway, known as Proastiakos.

Meanwhile, following a sixth day of continuous public transport upheaval on Tuesday, more industrial action was expected on Wednesday, with a work stoppage affecting ISAP and tram services, while on Thursday, bus employees were expected to conduct a walkout from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Services were expected to be further disrupted on Tuesday, January 29, as employees were organizing work stoppages on all means of public transport.
