Couple sought in connection to TT corruption case arrested in Britain [Update]

A Greek couple being sought by Greek police in connection to the ongoing investigation regarding the Hellenic Postbank corruption case was arrested in Manchester, Britain, on Wednesday.

Initial reports had suggested that Kyriakos Griveas and his spouse, Anastasia Vatsika, had turned themselves in to Scotland Yard in London on Wednesday, but were later refuted.

Interpol had issued an international red notice for their arrest following an arrest warrant issued by Greek authorities.

Griveas is among a group of prominent businessmen who have been embroiled in the scandal. According to prosecutors the bank issued 17 million euros in loans to the businessman. In the meantime, investigators had frozen the couples assets and had asked judicial authorities to access their personal and corporate accounts.
