PSI hearing begins at Council of State

Small-scale holders of Greek bonds protest outside the Council of the State building as the council discusses recourse by the bond holders for annulment of the haircut of their bonds under the PSI process, in Athens. The decision is expected in three months.

The Council of State's plenary session on Friday launched a hearing into the repercussions of last year's writedown of Greek debt, known as PSI for private sector involvement.

Some 600 small bondholders gathered outside the court building to protest the losses they suffered as a result of the PSI. The protesters claim to have been tricked by the government and are demanding compensation.

Police cordoned off one lane of trafic on Panepistimiou Street to allow the protest to go ahead without causing excessive traffic problems.
