Guards caught supplying prisoner with drugs, phones
Police have arrested two prison guards at Malandrino Prison in central Greece on suspicion of colluding with an inmate to smuggle drugs and mobile phones into the jail.
The inmate they were working with is reported to be Albanian criminal Alket Rizaj, who was an associate of notorious fugitive Vassilis Palaiocostas, with whom he escaped from prison twice.
The two prison guards, aged 41 and 28, were arrested while in possession of 213 grams of heroin and two mobile phone SIM cards.
A search of the prisoner’s cell revealed two cell phones.
