Athens police arrest man, 21, suspected of burglary, rape

A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of breaking into central Athens homes and raping an elderly woman.

Police said the suspect, a Pakistani man, is suspected of working with an accomplice to raid at least three homes in the Kolonos neighborhood, from where they stole cash and valuables.

During two of the raids, the men are alleged to have tied up their victims, both elderly women.

One of the women was allegedly raped after her cash was stolen.

Authorities said that the 21-year-old had been convicted in the past to three years in jail for his role in a robbery.
