High-level contacts between Greece and Turkey are about to resume following an agreement between the new Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday.
On Saturday morning, while Samaras was preparing for his eye surgery at an Athens hospital, Erdogan called him on the phone to congratulate him on assuming his new duties and to wish him to get well.
State television ET3 reported that the two prime ministers agreed to revive the Greek-Turkish High-Level Cooperation Council, that was formed in 2010 but was idle in the last few months.
The council will have its first meeting soon in Ankara and the details of that meeting will be agreed next week, when new Greek Foreign Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos meets his Turkish opposite number, Mehmet Davutoglu, in the context of the Black Sea countries’ conference.
The Development Ministry announced on Friday that a large number of small and medium-sized enterprises have expressed interest in the European Union-funded program for their support.
