IKA employee arrested on Myconos for alleged blackmail of former boss
An employee at the office of the IKA social security fund on Myconos has been arrested on suspicion of trying to blackmail her former manager, who is facing trial for a different matter.
The 46-year-old was arrested on a Cycladic island on Sunday. A 55-year-old accountant with whom she is alleged to have set up the extortion was also arrested in Piraeus. He was caught with 5,000 euros in marked banknotes.
The former director of the IKA office on Myconos alleged that the employee, who is a key witness in the case against him, had offered to change her testimony in return for a pay off.
He said the IKA worker and the accountant had initially demanded 150,000 euros but then settled for 25,000 euros, with the 5,000 euros found by police being the first instalment of the agreed amount.
