The Government Council for Foreign Affairs and Defense (KYSEA) on Friday officially named the new chiefs of the armed forces.
General Michail Kostarakos is the head of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff (GEETHA), while Lieutenant General Constantinos Ginis was named head of the Army General Staff (GES).
He replaces Constantinos Ziazias (photo), who stepped down on Wednesday.
GES said Ziazas’s resignation was for ”reasons that touch on ethics and dignity, both his own and of the army.”
