Giorgos Karatzaferis, the leader of Popular Orthodox Rally (LAOS), the small nationalist party that joined the coalition government led by ex-central banker Lucas Papademos in late 2011 and early last year was on the receiving end of strong criticism on Thursday from five members who quit the organization.
The five, who included ex-Deputy Agriculture Minister Asterios Rontoulis, slammed Karatzaferis, who owns the Art TV station, for failing to convene any of the party’s bodies after LAOS’s disastrous showing in last summer’s national elections. They also accused Karatzaferis of failing to maintain a consistent position.
Their departure follows that of Yiannis Korantis, the former head of Greece’s National Intelligence Service, who served as an MP for the party.
