Professionals in Corinthia to stage toll rate protest on Sunday

Unions representing various professional sectors in the Corinthia region in the northern Peloponnese will be staging a protest rally at the Corinth Canal toll station at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

The protesters are demanding that the government abolish a toll charge hike, arguing that the “rise in rates at a time when incomes have undergone a significant decline, the price of goods remains high and a succession of taxes keep soaring is pushing the Greek people to their limits,” the unions said in their announcement Friday.

The protest is expected to disrupt traffic.
