Hatzigiannis also probed by Greece's SDOE over yacht

A day after pop singer Michalis Hatzigiannis and his accountant were detained by police for allegedly falsely claiming that the license plates of a Ferrari in the singer’s name had been stolen, new reports suggest that Hatzigiannis has been investigated by members of the Financial Crimes Squad (SDOE) in connection with a 380,000-euro yacht.

According to a report in Dimokratia newspaper, Hatzigiannis is alleged to have declared the yacht to tax authorities for professional rather than personal use in 2012 to avoid an excessive levy.

Earlier this week the singer’s lawyer submitted a statement to police claiming that unknown thieves had removed the plates of a Ferrari belonging to the singer.

A police probe, however, revealed that the car has been in a showroom since 2009, as the singer allegedly had payments pending.

In a statement released via his lawyer late on Wednesday, Hatzigiannis spoke of a “misunderstanding” and said that “evidence to prove this will be submitted to the relevant authorities.”
