Alternate Agriculture Minister resigns over milk reform

The government's battle to see the measures agreed with its creditors clear Parliament had its first casualty as Alternate Agricutlural Development Minister Maximos Harakopoulos announced post on Saturday afternoon he has tendered his resignation from his post.

It remains unclear whether the Larissa deputy will also resign from his seat in Parliament or become an independent MP.

Harakopoulos had from the start of the negotiations opposed the changes introduced to the fresh milk market, and appears to have not been satisfied with the last-minute amendments introduced on Thursday.

In his statement he declared he had submitted his resignation since March 18, but the prime minister had asked him to delay his publication pending on amendments to the milk reform.
