Man kills mother in Glyfada

Authorities were questioning a 34-year-old man over the weekend in connection to the fatal stabbing of his 59-year-old mother in Glyfada, southern Athens, late on Thursday.

According to preliminary police reports, the suspect allegedly stabbed his mother with a kitchen knife in the apartment they shared, before fleeing the scene and wandering around the streets of Glyfada throughout the night.

The man, who allegedly has a history of mental problems, eventually turned himself in to authorities on Friday morning.
