One man was killed and another arrested in a gun battle with police following an armed robbery at Petralona, west of Athens city center, in the early hours of Saturday.
Police was informed of the robbery and rushed to the spot to find a 38-year-old and a 33-year-old, both Georgian nationals. They refused to be searched and started firing at police officers, who responded.
The 38-year-old man was injured and later succumbed to his wounds after being taken to the Erythros Stavros hospital. The 33-year-old man was arrested.
Both men had a record of robberies and various misdemeanors.
