Ex-judge sentenced of abuse of power, money laundering
An appeals court in Athens on Monday handed a 12-year jail sentence to former judge Constantina Bourboulia, who was found guilty of colluding not to charge employees of a company, Sigalas, suspected of misleading investors on the stock market.
Bourboulia was found guilty of abuse of power and money laundering. She is currently serving another jail sentence for her part in a trial-fixing ring.
Bourboulia was arrested in Paris in January 2006 after spending four months on the run.
The court also passed down sentences of between three and 10 years for another 10 people, including businessmen and stock brokers, involved in the case.
