First waste management tender seen concluding in February
February should see the conclusion of Greece’s first tender for waste management via public-private partnerships and with the support of the European Investment Bank (EIB).
If no legal obstacles are raised by the parties concerned, the tender for western Macedonia will have been completed by next month, after the EIB has approved its funding in principle, as well as that for a similar project in the Peloponnese.
Three bids had been submitted by last Friday for the western Macedonia tender, from Terna Energy, from Aktor Concessions-Elector and from Mesogeios-J&P Avax-Polyeco, and the Development and Infrastructure Ministry will evaluate the offers this month before selecting the preferred bid in February.
The tender concerns the management of 120,000 tons of waste for the next 27 years.
