Greece could be looking at annual revenues of 2 billion euros from the cruise sector in 2016 if the growth of the sector globally follows projections and Greek ports are used for home porting by at least two-thirds of cruise passengers in this country, according to a study published on Thursday by the National Bank of Greece.
Revenues from cruise tourism in Greece came to 600 million euros last year, or just 4 percent of European revenues, which amounted to 15 billion euros.
Estimates put the number of cruise passengers internationally at 30 million in 2016, from 20 million last year.
