Greece earns third place in Russian tourists’ list of favorite destinations

Greece earned third place in Russian tourists' list of favorite destinations in 2013, ahead of countries like China, Thailand and Spain, according to a report published by Russia's statistical authority, Rosstat. Turkey and Egypt topped the list.

According to the agency's report, the increase in the flow of Russian visitors traveling to Greece reached 70 percent last year, with over one million Russians visiting the country.

Fifty four million Russians traveled abroad in 2013, up by 13 percent compared to the previous year. Tourist travel was up by 19.3 percent last year, pointing to the rising affluence of Russian citizens.
