Euro exit talk is 'conterproductive,' says Botopoulos
Talk of an exit of Greece from the euro area is counterproductive and becoming less relevant, said Constantinos Botopoulos, Chairman of the Hellenic Capital Markets Commission, which regulates Greek financial markets.
Developments in Greece, Germany and at the European Commission show that “we understand that we cannot live without each other and this discussion about Greece leaving the eurozone is counterproductive for both Europe and Greece,” Botopoulos said in a Bloomberg TV interview on Thursday.
He said he hoped the Greek bank recapitalization plan will be finalized by October after the country lost time due to two elections held in May and June. [Bloomberg]
