Dijsselbloem says Nicosia has fulfilled aid requirements
The Cypriot government has fulfilled the requirements for an international aid payment of 1.5 billion euros, Dutch Finance Minister Jeroen Dijsselbloem said.
“According to the troika, Cyprus met its budgetary goals, took important steps to stabilize the financial sector and structural reforms have started,” Dijsselbloem, who is also chairman of the Eurogroup, wrote in a letter to the Dutch parliament that was released on Friday.
The Netherlands supports this opinion and will back the release of the next aid tranche, he wrote.
The finance ministers of the euro area will discuss the progress of the Cypriot aid program when they meet in Lithuania, on September 13.
