Tourism arrivals drop 6.7 percent

Foreign tourism arrivals in the first two months of the year dropped 6.7 percent year-on-year, amounting to 360,931, according to data processed and released on Thursday by the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises (SETE).

Industry representatives attribute the decline in tourism traffic and bookings this season to the negative publicity the country has received and delayed measures in the sector.

Athens arrivals in the January-February period showed a 10.7 percent annual drop, although in Thessaloniki they rose 8.9 percent.
