This year is poised to be a difficult one for Cypriot tourism, the island’s Energy, Industry and Tourism Minister Neoklis Sylikiotis stated on Tuesday, noting that 2012 was a very positive year both in terms of arrivals and revenues.
The economic challenges the island is facing, as well as the negative climate internationally, mean that Nicosia would be happy if tourism remained at the same level as in 2012, when it reached 2.46 million arrivals, up by 3 percent from 2011, and posted a 10 percent annual increase in revenues.
While the Russian market is set to show further increase, Sylikiotis said, arrivals from the United Kingdom, Germany and the Scandinavian countries are expected to drop.
