Juncker calls for Cyprus bailout talks to speed up

Luxembourg’s Jean-Claude Juncker, head of the group of euro-area finance ministers, said Friday that Cyprus and the so-called troika -- consisting of the European Commission, the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund -- must speed up the process of negotiating a package of external aid for the island country.

“There is no time to lose,” Juncker said in Nicosia, after meeting with Cypriot President Dimitris Christofias. Juncker said he is confident a solution to Cyprus’s “very serious” problems will be found “in the next few weeks.” [Bloomberg]
