The state must take measures to support the cruise tourism sector in Greece, said the head of the Association of Cruise Shipowners and Maritime Groups, Theodoros Contes, while addressing an association event on Monday, stressing the importance of creating competition regulations and cutting red tape for the return of cruise ships to the national register.
He added that the new regulation for opening up the cruise sector in Greece will go some way toward convincing interested companies that there are no more inflexibilities and bureaucratic obstacles that would discourage the development of home porting.
This year’s first major cruise ship arrival is scheduled for Wednesday, when the Costa Magica of Italian group Costa will dock in Rhodes.
