Number of foreclosures drops

The number of foreclosures in Greece dropped in 2012 compared to the year before, mainly thanks to legislation protecting first-time homeowners, according to local reports.

A total of 26,000 homes were put on the auction block in 2012, compared to 44,000 in 2011 and 52,000 in 2009, reports said.
