National Bank formally became the biggest stakeholder in Eurobank Ergasias on Friday, upon its acquisition of shares belonging to Eurobank shareholders who have accepted National’s public offering.
National has acquired 466,397,790 Eurobank shares, which amount to 84.35 percent. National already owned 0.4 percent of the lender, so its current stake now stands at 84.75 percent.
Next week will see the completion of the transaction, with the concession of 58 National shares for every 100 Eurobank shares of the holders adhering to the offer.
The new National Bank of Greece shares will start trading on the Athens Exchange on Wednesday, February 27.
