New Greek-Qatari business council to help investment
News of the creation of a Greek-Qatari business council, to be announced on Wednesday in the context of Prime Minister Antonis Samaras’s (photo) visit to Doha, is being viewed as very significant by Greek industrialists.
“We had previously proposed establishing a business council with the Qataris, but they had put it off, seeking to combine its announcement with a formal move from the Greek side. This time it was Qatar that made the proposal and we have accepted it,” said a source from the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV).
The council’s founding agreement will be signed by SEV and the Qatari Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The same source noted that Qatar, whose funds administer huge amounts of capital, is still interested in investing in Greece, and dubs Qatari investors “serious,” acting with a long-term strategy and examining every move carefully before acting.
He added that the relationship between Athens and Doha has “a great scope for development.”
